So now Bob Kelleher has the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator from Montana. One of his basic goals, it seems, is, by rewriting the Constitution, to turn the federal government into a parliament. He thinks it will help us cut out the lobbyists. Perhaps we should leave the federal government in place and start trying to turn state governments into parliaments: strong state parties could reinvigorate federalism. (Because, what would we be without wishful thinking?)
Now I'm just waiting for that anarcho-syndicalist candidate to emerge, and I'll be set.
(The news reports make it look unlikely that Kelleher will win; the party's going to spend most of its money on the governor's race. Also, it looks like Kelleher sort of hijacked the nomination anyway.)
