Alternate title: “More proof that the Internet is wonderful.”
Yes. It's Robocop on a unicorn.
(In a very strange coincidence, Robocop is currently at the top of my Netflix queue.)

What do you think about this article?

Short answer:
It would have been a much better article if it had contained less about the media and the economy and political parties and ethics, and more about Robocop on a Unicorn.
Longer answer:
I can't speak credibly on cause and effect in the economy, nor can most reporters. My general rule of thumb for financial writing is that if I can understand it the first time through, or without calling up my money-minded friends, then it's probably too reductive to be accurate. There are no clear-cut heroes and villains in a story like this one.
Even if Card is right to say that the policies of the Democratic Congress caused the problem, and some of the Republicans tried to fix it, the Republican leadership still deserves a share of the blame, as they were spending most of their "political capital" on another project during most of the Bush Administration.
Shortest answer:
Everything is complicated.
